Butte, Montana

In the early Nineteenhundreds, Butte was the biggest city west of the Mississippi, larger than San Francisco or Los Angeles, and the world’s greatest copper mine. It deteriorated in the Fifties and ever since is quite depressed, its old downtown area one big ghost town.

Wenders movie “Dont come knocking” shows it like a painting of Edward Hopper, but the lonely actors (Sam Shepard, Jessica Lange) dance when they meet.
